Acorn Briquettes was established in May 2008 at Stocksbridge, near Sheffield, with the aim of creating an inexpensive and clean alternative to fossil fuels for the domestic heating market.
The briquettes are made from FSC-certified hardwood dust and wood shavings –
joinery waste products – thus reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill. They are produced under high pressure, which melts naturally-occurring resins in the wood that then bind the briquette together without additives or glues.
The clean-handling briquettes burn efficiently due to their low moisture content and produce a small amount of biodegradable ash. Ready to use immediately, they require no seasoning.
